The Peterborough Thunder Volleyball club will be offering a U14, U15, U16 & U18
Women’s Volleyball program for the 2008/2009 Ontario Volleyball Season. The practices will be held at St. Peter’s Secondary School, Holy Cross Sec. and the Peterborough Wellness Centre. Cost for OVA season will be $425. Uniforms provided. Payment due by Oct. 24, 2008.
Season Schedule
Normal Practices: Mondays at SPSS from 7 to 10-Timeframe’s-1:30 hr. 7 or 8:30 start.

Wednesdays at HCS from-7-10 p.m - 2 courts.

Thursdays at HCS from 8 to 9:30 p.m -2 courts

Sunday at PWC from 6 to 7:30 p.m-1 court.

Wednesday practices will start in Jan. at SPSS from 7 to 10 p.m-1 court

Coaches will notify players of Practice schedule.

Philosophy
Please note that the OVA program is very competitive. The athletes will be selected according to their present skill level and athletic ability, their intensity, work ethic, and their likely role within the team chemistry. Our oldest U18 group has a philosophy of developing athletes for entry into College/University.
Although it is not an equal pay/ equal play program, equal opportunity will be given to all athletes, but those athletes portraying characteristics outlined by the coaching staff may see more court time. The players will be pushed to compete in every practice and ultimately there will be growth and development for them because of their commitment. In general, we are looking for interested athletes who wish to expand their level of play.
We are looking for fully committed athletes, however multi-sport athletes are most welcome, and will not be discouraged from participating in other activities. The OVA group will generally practice twice per week depending on athlete, coach, and gym availability. The Teams will compete in 4-6 tournaments concluding with Provincial Championships around Mid-April.

Competitive Team Tryouts Announced!!!

The Peterborough Thunder Volleyball Club (PTVC) is pleased to announce it's tryout schedule for the 2008-09 Competitive Club programs. We are looking to expand the volleyball opportunities for committed athletes beyond the traditional school season. It is our goal to provide an opportunity for athletes to showcase their talents in hope that they may develop their volleyball skills to their fullest potential and perhaps participate in Post Secondary volleyball.

The club is offering competitive opportunities for U14-U18 athletes within in the Ontario Volleyball Competition series, with Nationals set for May!!

OVA Season – Start: Mon. Sept. 22 (Tryouts) to end of April, 2009.

House League Times Announced!!!

House league times have been announced:

There will be a House League running from September 10th to December 13th, 2008.

U16 (1993) & U13 (1996)/1997) – Wed. 7:00 p.m. @ St. Peter’s Sec.

U14 (1995) – Wed. 8:00 p.m. @ St. Peter’s Sec.

U15 (1994) – Thurs. 7:00 p.m. @ Holy Cross Sec., All Boys @ 8:00 p.m.

Both St. Peter’s Secondary School and Holy Cross Secondary School will be used as venues on either Wednesday or Thursday nights, and St. Peter’s Secondary on Saturday mornings for games from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m.

The club operates the house league for U13 – U16 athletes from September to Mid December. This year’s house league will cost $120.

It is our philosophy that athletes should participate in a variety of sports, and therefore we do not discourage athletes from participating on their school athletic teams.

The program is supported by the Ontario Volleyball Association and is a non-profit organization. If interested, please mail in the required information from website provided.
