Tryout Information & Schedule

1) All Athletes must register for Tryouts in advance.  There is a one-time tryout fee of $20, payable during registration. Athletes that have an Open Commitment or are Resigned athletes do not need to complete this registration process. When completing the registration process, choose the 'Tryout' option first, then follow the prompts based on your birthdate and gender.

3) All athletes MUST register with the Ontario Volleyball Association (OVA) in advance of tryouts. You must register as a Tryout Player through their MRS System, which is mandatory but is a free process.
      - Information about how to do this can be found here: https://www.ontariovolleyball.org/become-a-member 
      - Note: this applies to all athletes included those that have already signed commitments to the club.

3) Regarding athletes looking to play in a different age division than their standard birth year eligibility:
      - All athletes are expected to attend tryouts in the correct division based on their age.
      - Playing Up: Any players wishing to 'play up' in a higher age division will require written approval from the Club Director prior to attending any upper age tryouts.
      - For athletes with Extended Age Eligibility, unless prior approval is provided, you should attend the first tryout with your standard birth year eligible group, and then following the first or second try-out activity, if you and the coaches agree that it is more appropriate for you to continue the tryout process using your Extended Age Eligibility, then that can be arranged for tryouts going forward. If you believe it is appropriate to use your Extended Age Eligibility right from the start of tryouts (e.g. you've 'played down' for several years) please email the Director with your rationale.
      - Changes related to tryout age division will be made on the 'back end' of the system, after you register.

Peterborough Thunder will be following proven best practices for long-term athlete and club development as it relates to reviewing any requests for athlete's to play in an age division outside of the standard birth year eligibility. We seek to provide opportunities to play in a competitive environment to as many athletes as possible, and also field the strongest teams possible in every age division.
